Assistant Store Manager, Full-time

Job Summary & Mission
The Assistant Store Manager is responsible for the overall success and operation of the BOPOMOFO CAFE store s/he leads. The Assistant Store Manager role will primarily comprise of responsibilities including but not limited to leading, managing, and developing a team of Baristas, Lead Team Members, Shift Leads and Hourly Supervisors. Assistant Store Managers also contribute to BOPOMOFO’s success by assisting the Regional Manager in executing store operations during scheduled shifts by ensuring that all of our guests experience next level hospitality in accordance with our values, and operating the store to reach or exceed our financial and operational goals. This role is a hands-on experience that develops your supervisory experience, coaching skills, deeper food & beverage business acumen, all to build your understanding of store management.
Disclaimer for New Restaurant/Café Opening (NRO): Please note that this Shift Leader position is for an upcoming BOPOMOFO CAFE location. As such, the expectations for this role deviate from our standard shift leader responsibilities to accommodate the unique needs of opening a new establishment. The selected candidate will be required to undergo full barista training to ensure a deep understanding of our operations, enabling them to support our baristas and lead their team more effectively.

Communicates clearly, concisely and accurately in order to ensure effective store operations. Maintain confidentiality where necessary.
Able to manage key performance indicators and coach team members about operational excellence and performance.
Contributes to a positive team environment by recognizing alarms or changes in team member morale and performance and communicating them to the store manager.
Demonstrates integrity, honesty, and knowledge that promote the culture, values and mission of BOPOMOFO CAFE. Maintains and models a calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events; continues to keep the store operational to standard and sets a positive example for the team members.
Develop, inspire and retain team members, providing regular coaching and feedback to build their knowledge and skills. Aware of developing an effective succession plan and engaging in active recruiting of team members.
Conduct store training for all new team members by utilizing the training tools and resources--Maintaining a high level of tracking, progression and attainment.
Models a customer centric attitude and consistently delivers legendary customer services and supervises other team members to ensure they are delivering legendary customer service.
Engages in conversation with customers to understand customer needs and the needs of the community in which the store is located.
Supports the Regional Manager in implementing company policies and procedures by working directly with Shift Leads to execute action plans that meet operational and organizational objectives.
Manages store operations by recognizing and reinforcing individual and team accomplishments through existing organizational tools and makes recommendations to management on new, creative, and impactful methods of recognition.
Assists with Regional Manager the hiring and termination of team members where necessary.

A sharp eye in managing day to day store operations to meet financial goals of the store--Being able to identify operational inefficiencies and team members issues and acting on corrective action.
Be the role model of operational excellence for your team members, exemplifying and reinforcing standards and behaviors consistent with BOPOMOFO CAFE’s core values and culture.
Setting work standards and assessing performance outcomes to our Company standards and taking corrective action when necessary; Managing the performance of an organization.
Able to build schedules and deploy a team that is effective, efficient and maintains our high standards of customer service as well as balancing the needs and capabilities of your team members, all while staying within budgetary guidelines.
Ensure efficient inventory levels by placing timely orders of appropriate quantities of all necessary raw materials, food service items and services. And establishing/maintaining a strong professional relationship with our vendors and purveyors.
Demonstrating effective leadership by ways of taking personal responsibility to do the right thing and persisting in times of challenge or uncertainty. Adapts quickly to change and is able to make timely and thoughtful decisions.
Effectively carrying out the policies and procedures our store locations abide by. These ground rules put in place must be unbiasedly implemented when an occurrence is impacted. Taking swift and effective enforcement maintains an effective working eco-system for your team members.
Protecting store assets and facilities at all times through complying and ensuring compliance with BOPOMOFO CAFE’s policies and procedures for safety, health, security, maintenance and cash handling.
Implementing the upkeep and in-house organization and cleanliness. This includes managing an effective cleaning schedule, organization and cleaning of both interior and exterior equipment and furniture and the overall attractiveness of the store.
Managing & Maintaining an operational store by keeping track of service orders and maintenance orders as it pertains to the functionality of the location.
Collaborating and strategizing with the Store Manager on obtaining KPIs and setting actionable goals for the store.
Manages store promotions, organizing store presentations, and visual merchandising. Lead and oversee the training for each seasonal or short term promotion and follow up on the execution throughout the course of the promotion.
Qualification of Experience
Minimum of 2 years of retail management and/or supervisory experience and/or related to experience and training, particularly in a food & beverage establishment.
